How do I enable or disable automation for a repository/branch?

Last updated on Nov 10, 2025

Short Answer: Toggle the ON/OFF pill in the "Automation" column for the repository/branch on the Overview or Documentation table to enable or disable automation.

Prerequisites

  1. An automation configured for the repository/branch

  2. Permission to modify automations

Steps

  1. Open the Overview or Documentation tab where repositories are listed.
The repositories table with an "Automation" column is visible.

  2. Locate the repository/branch row and click the "ON" or "OFF" pill in the "Automation" column to change its state.
The pill updates to reflect the new state (ON or OFF).

  3. Confirm automation state by checking Recent documentation activity or the Automation list if needed.
Automation behavior matches the chosen state.

Troubleshooting

  1. Toggle does not change or reverts to previous state.
LikelyCause: Insufficient permissions or a validation error in the automation configuration.
Action: Check Settings → Documentation settings for permissions and open the Automation tab to edit/check the automation configuration.

  2. Automation is ON but no runs occur.
LikelyCause: Trigger conditions are not met or the branch is not receiving events.
Action: Verify automation trigger settings, branch, and repository connection; run a manual documentation to confirm.

Note: The ON/OFF pill gives immediate visual feedback; check Usage/Recent activity for run confirmations.
