Short Answer: Use the Status dropdown in the right-hand panel to pick the new status (e.g., In progress, Resolved).

PreRequisites

  1. You must be signed in.

  2. You must have permission to update issue metadata.

Steps

  1. In the right-hand panel, find Status (shows the current value, e.g., In progress).

  2. Click the Status dropdown to view options.

  3. Select the status you want (e.g., Resolved).
The Status updates immediately in the panel.

  4. Confirm the change by checking Last updated and the History section for a status-change entry.

Troubleshooting

  1. Status reverts or doesn’t save
Likely Cause: Not authenticated, insufficient permissions, or a network error.
Action: Sign in, refresh the page, verify your connection, then try again. If it continues, ask the repo owner to grant edit permissions.

Note: Status changes are logged in the History card with a timestamp and actor.
