How do I search issues by title, description, or file name?

Last updated on Feb 19, 2026

Short Answer: Type keywords into the “Search issue titles, descriptions, or file names…” field and press Enter (or pause briefly) — the issue list updates.

PreRequisites

  1. Repository Issues page is open

Steps

  1. Click the search box labeled “Search issue titles, descriptions, or file names…”.
The cursor appears in the search box.

  2. Type a keyword or file path (e.g., user.js) and press Enter.
The issues list filters to matching rows.

  3. Refine using the top dropdowns: All severity, All status, All assignees, All files.
Results reflect both the search text and selected filters.

  4. To restore the full list, clear the search field and press Enter (or delete the text).
All issues for the current filters are shown again.

Troubleshooting

  1. Search returns zero results.
Likely Cause: A restrictive filter (severity/status/assignee/files) or a typo.
Action: Reset to All severity, All status, All assignees, All files, and check spelling.

Note: Search matches issue titles, descriptions, and file names as indicated by the input’s placeholder text.
