Why is the ‘Share’ button disabled or missing in the Issue Level View?

Last updated on Jan 08, 2026

Short Answer: A disabled/missing ‘Share’ usually means you lack permission or required fields (recipients) are not selected; verify permissions and modal fields.

PreRequisites

  1. Signed in

  2. Access to the repository

Steps

  1. Open the Issue Level View and click the ‘Share code review’ action to open the modal.
    The share modal opens.

  2. Confirm at least one recipient is selected and any required fields are filled.
Recipient(s) are listed and fields are valid.

  3. If the Share button remains disabled or the option is missing, verify your account role with a repo admin.
You know whether you have sharing permission.

  4. If you should have permission, refresh the page and try again; if still failing, contact support or an administrator.
Either share succeeds or admin support is requested.

Troubleshooting

  1. Share button disabled even after selecting recipients.
LikelyCause: A required field in the modal is empty or server validation failed.
Action: Complete all required fields in the modal and retry. If problem persists, refresh and try again.

  2. Share option not present at all.
LikelyCause: Your account role does not include sharing capabilities for this repo.
Action: Ask a repo or workspace admin to grant sharing permission or to share on your behalf.

Note: Permissions for sharing are typically managed at the repo or workspace level; if unsure, check with your admin.
