Why does a file say “This file is already in review” and when can I regenerate it?

Last updated on Jan 08, 2026

Short Answer: That tooltip indicates the file is currently being processed in an active review; you must wait for that run to complete before regenerating a review for the same file.

PreRequisites

  1. You have previously started a review that includes the file

  2. You can view the file list and tooltips

Steps

  1. Hover the file’s status to view the tooltip “This file is already in review. You’ll be able to regenerate once the current process completes.”
You confirm the file is currently in an active review.

  2. If you need to proceed immediately, uncheck that file and run review for other files, or wait for the current review to finish to regenerate the file later.
You avoid duplicate requests for the same file.

Troubleshooting

  1. Review for a repository appears stuck or running for a long time.
LikelyCause: An active review run is processing many files or there’s a delay.
Action: Wait for the in-progress run to finish; the UI notes “Review for this repository is in progress. You can start a new run once it is completed.”

Note: The UI prevents regenerating a file review while a previous run is still processing that file.
